SMS Consent Policy
Effective Date: January 10, 2026
1. Overview
Smalendar uses SMS messaging to communicate with users about calendar events and account-related information. This page describes how we obtain user consent before sending SMS messages.
2. How We Obtain Consent
2.1 Opt-In Process
Users provide explicit consent to receive SMS messages from Smalendar through one of the following methods:
During Account Registration: When creating a Smalendar account, users are presented with a checkbox to opt in to SMS communications. The checkbox is unchecked by default and includes the following disclosure:
☐ I agree to receive SMS messages from Smalendar, including confirmations of calendar events I create and important messages about my account. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time.
In Account Settings: Existing users can enable or disable SMS communications at any time through their account settings page. The same disclosure is presented when enabling SMS.
2.2 Consent Requirements
- The SMS opt-in checkbox is not pre-checked; users must actively select it.
- Users must accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to create an account.
- Consent records (timestamp, user ID, and consent version) are stored in our database.
3. Types of Messages We Send
Users who opt in will receive:
- Event Confirmations: Confirmation messages when a calendar event is successfully created from an SMS or MMS the user sent to Smalendar.
- Event Parsing Errors: Notifications when we could not parse event details from a message the user sent.
- Account Notifications: Important messages about the user's account, such as authentication issues or service disruptions.
We do not send marketing, promotional, or advertising messages.
4. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on user activity. Users typically receive one reply message for each SMS or MMS they send to Smalendar. Account notifications are infrequent and only sent when necessary.
5. How to Opt Out
Users can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by:
- Replying STOP to any message from Smalendar
- Disabling SMS in their account settings at smalendar.com
- Contacting support at support@smalendar.com
Opt-out requests are processed immediately. Users will receive a single confirmation message acknowledging their opt-out.
